The Foundation intends to preserve and renew the historical memory and the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Monastery and the Order of the Capuchin Poor Clares.
Missions and Values
Since July 2, 1643, a monastic community of the Capuchin Poor Clares has been present in Città di Castello. Following the canonization of Orsola Giuliani—who entered the Monastery in 1677 at the age of seventeen and received the name Veronica—it took the name “Capuchin Monastery of St. Veronica Giuliani.” Sister Veronica, beatified in 1804 and canonized by Pope Gregory XVI in 1839, dedicated her entire life—until her death on July 9, 1727—to the Risen Christ, to the One who ascended the cross out of love and is the heart of the Christian faith. He asks to be welcomed, listened to, and loved with a vital, personal, and spousal love—a God-Love who overwhelms, changes, and transforms people and their lives so that each person may fulfill the unique plan He has for them.
In 2024, at the will of the Capuchin Monastery of St. Veronica Giuliani, the Santa Veronica Giuliani Foundation was established as a Third Sector Entity. Non-profit in nature, it pursues civic, charitable, and socially beneficial purposes by carrying out one or more activities of general interest—primarily or exclusively—aimed at the cultural, social, and moral development of the person and of various communities. The Foundation promotes charitable, educational, and training initiatives that respond not only to basic human needs—such as illness, vulnerability, marginalization, suffering, and social isolation—but also to cultural needs and to all areas of life concerning personal well-being, in harmony with the moral and social teachings of the Church.
The Foundation is especially committed to continuing the mission of the founding Monastery Community: to preserve and renew the historical memory and the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Monastery and of the Capuchin Poor Clare Order, and to share it with the local community as well as with pilgrims—believers and non-believers alike—who wish to learn more.
